Nursery

Tom and I have loved being nursery leaders together. I get to spend all 3 hours of church with Tom and we get to hang out with little people!

This is Emery. Emery is calm and sweet. When we were first put in nursery she kept the same observant face on and when she cried she did so silently off by herself. :( It took a few weeks for us to get a smile out of her-she was playing in the cupboard-but now she smiles and makes faces. Whenever she has gotten hurt she says, "Don't touch it." That is hard because I just want to cuddle and comfort her but she wants her mom for that. Emery is the book worm. Every Sunday I pick her up and she chooses a book for us to read and this is repeated until she gets distracted by something else. I used to kneel on the floor and she would sit on my lap while we read. One Sunday after I hurt my foot I got a little chair for us to sit on. The next Sunday after she picked a book she went over to the chairs and picked one up and brought it over to me. So sweet and thoughtful. She is a big helper too. When we've had to move the table out she always wants to help pull it and she carries those chairs around like they're nothing. She also loves her twin sister, Blair. There is a book with a big E on it, for Emery we say and she always finds the B in the little alphabet to say B for Blair too.

Here's my sitting view of the ocean. Sometimes if the kids are having a hard time we just stand them up by the windows and count the boats and look at the Grand Anse beach.
It has also been funny to see people come here to the back of the building where nursery is to take selfies in front of the church's ocean view.

There's Blair with the bucket on her head. She is a wild child full of energy and smiles. Our first time in nursery Blair would be playing and then randomly start crying when she remembered that her Mommy and Daddy weren't there with her. She got used to us quickly though and loves showing us her dress when she first gets to nursery. Whenever Blair has gotten upset she loves cuddling with Tom and playing with his beard. There was one Sunday last term when Tom had a test to take in the morning and wanted the people we had in nursery to stay there. But I made him hurry so we could be in nursery. He was later glad we took over because Blair being so happy to see him made his day that much better. Once when Blair was saying a prayer for our lesson she listed everyone's name, "Emery and Bennett and Isaac and teachers..." So sweet. Lately she has loved screaming for our attention and we try to turn that into singing because she is a great singer too.

Tom was trying to get Blair to sing again and I got a video of it but it wouldn't upload. :(

This is sweet Isaac. For a while he didn't like coming to nursery and he would play by himself driving cars around on the table. If he doesn't want to acknowledge you he'll just look at you through the corner of his eye and take your peace offering toys that way too. Isaac loves hiding in the cupboard and has the greatest little laugh when you find him or stick your hand through the back of the cupboard to scare him. He loves Emery too and says, "Emy, Emy, in" when he wants Emery to get in the cupboard or bucket with him. This day he brought his soft blankie and when I put it over his head and the whole bin he was perfectly content to sit there without disturbance. When he gets upset because of getting hurt or us saying no (:/) he stands very still for a second and then cries in little outbursts or throws things or hits himself in the head. :( But when I pick him up and we throw some little toys in the buckets to clean up he's happy again. When he was still getting used to us at the beginning the only thing that would make him giggle was putting his raisins in his water cup. It was the funniest thing. Now he loves eating his raisins.

I didn't get a picture of singing time because they were wild this day. We sit on the chairs in a circle and they are usually so good at watching us and doing the hand motions.

This is Bennett. He wanted me to write his name in all different colors. Bennett is a happy, sweet boy. He also has eyelashes as long as Cindly Lou Who's. For a long time Bennett would cry whenever his parents left him with us until he was sufficiently distracted. Now he just comes right in and starts playing. Bennett loves snack time and often moves his chair from our singing circle right to the table after the first song saying, "'Nack, 'nack." Many times when we have someone start praying he says something that sounds like, "Heavenly Father, big boat, big boat..." He loves those boats and when we pick him up to see them. The other week for the second hour it was just Bennett and another boy so me and Bennett got some one-on-one time while he ate and colored. He told me about the waterfall he went to that week and the dinosaurs(?) that were there. Bennett is a great help when it's time to clean up.

This is Tom - the one with the long beard and short socks. I love him.

From another day..
