It's OVER!

This semester was a rough one. But now it's over! :D

Merry Christmas!!

One Day...

Last night I took a test where I had to prove the Mean Value Theorem and also the Second Fundamental Theorem of Calculus:

It was beautiful.

I definitely had help. And some dark chocolate chips.

In these upper level math classes, the numbers turn into words. Worms, Roxanne! Here are all of the words and numbers I basically had to memorize for this test.

Yesterday was a hard one. I also had a presentation to give. It all gave me an amazing headache. My brain is getting the work out of it's life.
Here are the things I still have to do:
  • Two sections of homework problems for Real Analysis
  • Test in Computer Science
  • 10-or-so-page paper for Intro. to Applied Mathematics
  • Project 4 (writing code for a program that will allow a game of Sudoku) for Computer Science
  • Test for Differential Equations with Linear Algebra
  • Other part of final for Real Analysis

One day...

One day this semester will be over...

P.S.
Tom and I were talking about how you should always write something down for your answer even if you don't know what it is. We were joking about writing a note to my teacher if I really had no clue or maybe saying "the guy next to me just picked his nose" or something. Well. Last night just before I started on the Second Fundamental Theorem of Calculus proof, I smelt a stink that no human should ever have to endure-especially while taking such a brain and spirit requiring test.

"Hi Brother Cox. Just before I started this proof, the dude next to me let out a big one. It's really affecting my ability to think..."

Finally

December is here.
 Clearly.
Now just to get through my final tests and projects...

"Her name Is Um. Idiot!"

My mean streak is over. Too soon.

The other day two girls in a row were all smiley at me. And I actually smiled back! And while I was looking down to see if I had something on me, my teacher Brother Stowell was walking by and said "Hi Lilia." Weirdo I am.

Yesterday on my cold walk down from the Ricks to the Hart I saw a guy trying to get up the hill in his wheelchair. Well wouldn't you know, I asked if I could help him. I don't know what's happening. Then this guy started talking to me about snowboarding while were we walking down some stairs and then I talked to this girl that works in the locker room that misses me because I'm being fat now and then I talked to my visiting teaching companion and told her I'd miss her because she's moving out. All before I could stop to wait for Tom to change after his workout. Psh.

I did learn some things while in my mean stage. It's all about pride. I knocked shoulders with people not because I was humble and willing to move for them, but because of my pride. Thinking they should really move for me because I'm Lilia Barrett. "Do you know who I am?" I am short with people because I don't want to give them my time of day. Because I think I'm too good to talk to weirdos like them. When in fact I am a weirdo too. We all have problems. And like I learned from the lesson on a recent Sunday, being nice to people will help them change for better more than telling them they have problems will help them change. I'm so proud. But that can change. It's all so strange to watch the change...

Frozen cranberry sorbet. Mixed again. Then frozen again.

Mmm that looks good.

And I'm not totally nice now just because I'm not feeling too mean. I'm still mean. ;)

Cool huh?

Last night's homework.

Remember this thing?

I made cranberry sorbet yesterday in preparation for Thanksgiving!

Randoms

The other Sunday we were making tacos...
and we saw our neighbor's dog and another dog all alone in the dog area.
The dog on the right lives below us and the dog on the left is their friend. We hear them yelling and screaming at the football games on Sundays together. Poor dogs. (Hly if you're reading this, don't tell anyone that I write about them;).

Here's Hannah's birthday card I made her. Since she finally got it, I can post it. :) The frogs are singing Happy Birthday to her.
And he's my favorite. I stole this idea from online so don't go looking for the original.. or telling anyone. So secretive I am. :/
And Gwinna's onsie.. too big for now though.

This is the only pink in my home. And just for the month. Clearly.
Coolest calendar ever.

Happy Birthday to Me

Thank you for the birthday wishes! Today was great. It even rained for me!
AND it's a half moon tonight.
Yesterday for my birthday dinner we had salmon. It was amazing.
This only looks not that amazing and messy because this is a picture of the leftovers we had tonight. And we had red potatoes with cajun seasoning.
And then Tom made his cinnamon rolls for me while I was in class this morning. Delicious. And here he is this morning.
Aw.

Poor Keckles

Once upon a time we had a goldfish and blackfish. Then they died. Then I got Tom this beauty for his birthday long ago.
He lived forever. And then he died. Then we had a ladybug living with us.
Then we got two more fish. Mine was expensive and it got a disease and died. This is Tom's current fish and he is alive and well.

And one time we had a dog. Sometimes us women just have to let our men do silly things so they learn on their own that we're always right. I love this post by Karen on this subject. Here's our dog we had for a weekend.
He loved sleeping on Tom...

But Tom didn't mind.

The day we almost died

The "gems" on the mountains as C. Jane calls them.

The Saturday before school started was the day that The Thomas Mangelsen was coming to town. To Jackson. And even though we had just been there, Tom wanted to meet him or I guess at least see him.

On our way out the door Tom said, "We should pray." And I said, "We just prayed a second ago." And so the journey began...

On our street there was a girl pulling out from another apartment complex as we were driving by. I mean she didn't stop for us. So Tom had to swerve and honk and I had to give her the finger. I know, we're a good team. And then Tom said, "If we had prayed that wouldn't have happened. If we had been seconds behind, that car would have already pulled out." So we said a prayer of thanks.

And I didn't really give that girl the finger.

And of course since we live in Rexburg there were many more dangerous and crazy drivers around.

We stopped at a gas station roughly three fourths of the way there to use the restroom and there were tons of cars so we knew something was going on. The line to the women's one stalled restroom was wrapped around the doughnut counter and Tom had to wait for maybe 3 guys. As I was waiting I saw bikers coming in and trying to cut in front of little kids. Then we knew what the cars were around for. There was a race going on.

As we were trying to make a left turn at the light to get out of that area, we almost ran someone over. No we didn't. But someone was crossing and got scared when Tom started turning and said, "Hey! Watch where you're going! A**hole!"

Almost the rest of the way to Jackson there were bikers taking over the road. It's like they were too cool for the bike lane. So annoying. Plus slow drivers that were yelling at the bikers encouraging them on. There is a picture at the bottom of this post of one of those slow drivers. So what usually takes 20 minutes took about an hour.

And then there was the volcano. We must have seen it right after it started because it was smaller and the smoke was not so spread out.

Then it became more. And we got to see the helicopters at work carrying water to and from the fire. It was a fire, not a volcano.
And here is the crazy Utard that sped passed us when we pulled over for an ambulance. Dumb.
We've had been having a lot of fires around here. I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of the bright red sun in the mornings that was positioned perfectly next to the temple as I drove up the hill. :( It rained and the smoke went away and there was no more red sun. The orange moon looked really cool too.

But anyway, Jackson was fun as usual. Tom was too scared to say anything to Tom but we did see the rich man of talent.
