Here is an email I got earlier this week from the math society on campus:
Hello Everyone,
Pi
Day is this week! We are having a mathematical celebration for
BYU-Idaho math majors and minors. It will be held on Thursday at 5:30
pm in Kirkham 232.
· Brother Goodsell will be giving a talk
about the history of pi.
· We
will have a digits of pi recitation
contest to see who can list the most digits of the decimal expansion of
pi. So start memorizing and come prepared to compete! We attached a
file listing the first thousand digits to get you started.
· There will be a pie eating contest.
We hope to see you there!
Thanks!
Nerds.
Can you imagine if I went and competed in the pi recitation contest? I could totally win. Tom would never let me forget that. It would be awesome though, but then I'd really be labeled a nerd. I've only memorized this much of pi: 3.14159265358979 ... hmm...
Last night two girls from Relief Society who shall remain nameless came to my door to give me a flyer for the Relief Society birthday party on Saturday. Tom answered the door because I don't like to. When I came to the door one of the girls said "Sorry to take you out of the kitchen..." while the other girl checked out my outfit. It was pretty obvious she was looking at the holes in my sweatshirt (I only wear that at home).
Great experience. Not going to the birthday party.
